Tonya K. Grant is the author of the book, National Geographic Readers: Kamala Harris. Her articles have appeared in many publications, including National Geographic Kids, Clubhouse Jr., Highlights for Children, ParentLife Magazine, and books in the Chicken Soup for the Soul Series.
She is currently an elementary school librarian and former classroom teacher with over 20 years of experience. When she’s not reading or writing, she enjoys watching movies, knitting, traveling, and working out.
As a writer, she hopes her stories spark children’s imaginations and will inspire them to write their own. She writes early readers and middle grade books filled with mystery, suspense, hope, and a dash of humor.
Fun Facts:
· Growing up, I always had a book in my hand. As a kid, I slept with a flashlight under my pillow so after the lights were turned off, I could read one more chapter.
· My favorite book as a child was A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle because I loved all things sci fi and unexplainable.
· As a 3rd and 4th grader, I researched and did projects on The Loch Ness Monster, Stonehenge, and The Bermuda Triangle.
· As a kid, I also enjoyed reading mystery books and solving different kinds of puzzles like cryptograms, logic puzzles, brain teasers, word searches, and putting together jigsaw puzzles.
· My favorite snack is popcorn.
